No Bones About It

Report Date: February 15, 2013

Starting outside at Peck's Lake, seems like the spanish mackerel don't really get turned on till after 10am or so. Most action has been close to the reef throwing a combination of Capt. Joe's flash and dash along with trollrites and shrimp. Water quality just offshore and inside the inlet has been excellent on incoming tide.

So where are all the pompano?? I've heard of reports along Hobe Sound Beach south and Fort Pierce north. The past couple of weeks have been hit or miss for pompano on the Sailfish Flats. Plenty of rods bending ladyfish and a few bonefish mixed in. The ones we have caught have been good size running to three and a half pounds.

Trout have been scattered in 4-5 feet along the west side of Indian River Drive. Gulp or live shrimp on jigs and popping corks on the outgoing . Bridges are holding some snook, black drum and croakers. We are expecting a few cold fronts this weekend dropping it down some. Today I fished and it was 88. Talk about global warming!!
