Jacks, Snook and Tarpon taking Live Baits

Report Date: May 23, 2014

Been fishing south around the inlet for the past month mixing it up with artificials, shrimp and pilchards. Look for jacks, snook and tarpon eating up the live baits in the inlet, seawalls and bridges. Spawning time for the snook is near so time to switch over to circle hooks. Caught a nice 6.2 lb. trout this morning in the inlet. Also some black drum, snapper, sheepshead, and yes, a few pompano lately around the bridges.

I may do a recon trip north tomorrow looking for flounder, drum and tripletail. No charters available May 30th thru June 2nd - I’m heading down to the keys for a mini vacation.
