Holiday Report

Report Date: December 27, 2014

Fishing along the Treasure Coast can be a lot of fun this time of the year. When the seas are under 2 foot, I like to run just outside the inlet and play with the Spanish Mackerel. Some days the fish are already chewing at 9am. When they do turn on, you can really load up in no time at all. Gulfstream minnow jigs, spoons and green tube lures top the list. Also look for snapper and sheepshead just outsude the shallow reef bouncing shrimp and trollrites. Closer to the beach in 10 to 15 feet, pompano are possible jigging Joe's jigs tipped with fishbites. The pomps inside the river remains on the slow side for the most part.
Snook can be found in the inlet but the larger ones have been at the bridges. Also some nice black drum, sheepshead, snapper near the structures.
