First Pompano of the Season

Report Date: December 6, 2013

Into December already, how time flies. We are starting to see our first pompano of the season, but they are really spread out. Jigging Capt. Joe's pompano jigs in yellow, white or pink will get their attention this season. Black drum along with sheepshead, snapper and snook are at the bridges eating shrimp along the bottom.

Yesterday, I fished with David Schwartz and Justin Dupuy from Houston. Plenty of rod benders with jacks, blue runners, ladyfish, snapper and a few snook. Les Applegate from Palm City had the largest black drum of the week with a nice 7 pounder.

Hoping for a cool down soon to drop the water temps a few degrees so we can see more mackerel, pompano and blues inshore.
