Stuart Fishing Report

It's been quite windy the past week making fishing a bit more of a challenge. There are plenty of areas to fish and get out of the wind which is where we have been most of the time. Starting in the St. Lucie Inlet, the north side along Sailfish Point has been very fishable with jacks, sheephead and a few scattered bluefish and pompano. The water is cleaning up nicely on incoming due to the recent halt in water releases from Lake O. The crossroads area has been ladyfish and blues with a few bonefish just off the sandbars. Just north of the crossroads in the sailfish flats it's been mainly leaping ladyfish and scattered pompano action. As the water cleans up in the next few weeks look for the pompano action to really pick up in most areas. With the wind cranking, I like to drift the flats throwing Joe's pompano jigs. Drifting this fast you have the option of jigging downwind or cast and retrieve into the wind. Best tide for the pomps is normally late incoming to early outgoing.

The 10 cent bridge is holding some nice black drum to eight pounds along with jacks, ladyfish and snapper. Snook at the dime bridge are along the bottom bouncing red tail hawks or livebaits. The Stuart Causeway has been hit or miss lately with drum, mangrove snapper and a few ribbonfish. The pompano so far has been slow in this area. I believe the strong north winds lately is not allowing the clean ocean water to reach the bridge like normal.

North of the Jensen Bridge, trout in 3-4 feet on both shrimp and rubber baits. Still some baitschools along the shorelines making topwater action lots of fun.
