Great Bite

Report Date: July 21, 2018

The fishing here in the Stuart area has been quite good with catch and release snook.Tripletail and black drum are keeping us busy. The snook bite has been excellent in the inlet while livebaiting with pilchards and greenies on circle hooks. A lot of big females out there and the bite should be strong well into August.
We are up to 88 tripletail for the year with several over 20lbs. These fish are here all year but seems the bite goes in spirts. The black drum the past month have been on fire around docks and bridges. Average size are 3-6 lbs. Flounder have been a tough find lately.

You may be aware of the water releases going on from Lake Okeechobee. During this period which happens every summer, I avoid fishing the St. Lucie River all together and target the St. Lucie Inlet on incoming tide or fish north of the Jensen Beach causeway on the Indian River where salinity levels are much higher.
