Mixed Bag on The St. Lucie River

Report Date: April 24, 2013

The St. Lucie River continues to hold a mixed bag of Spanish Mackerel, sheephead, mangrove snapper and snook, fishing just outside the docks along Sewell's Point. Fishing has been decent for the most part, except for days when the wind and current are opposed.

We have seen a slight increase in the pompano bite from the crossroads north to the Stuart Causeway. Pink has been the color using Capt. Joe's pompano jigs along with shrimp and trollrites. The Sailfish flats remain slow for both pompano and bonefish.

Outside Joe's Point, across from my marina, look for trout in 3-4 feet before 11am. Live shrimp and DOA rootbeer shrimp have been working best.
